This lesson was taught to my 11th grade World History class. It was a follow up lesson after we had discussed India's history with British colonization and its ultimate freedom from Great Britain. It is a great way to go more in depth into the importance of Gandhi who is such an important figure but often times not given enough "space" in our textbooks.
The goal of this lesson is to learn more about what Gandhi did for the Indian people in terms of their revolution, but also show that Gandhi is still an extremely relevant figure today. For many of my students, when we looked at the famous Gandhi quotes, they had recognized many of them but never new that they came from Gandhi. They absolutely loved discussing the quotes and the relevance they had to the Indian people of that time but also to their lives.
