Working on longer and shorter notes with your class while bringing in the kids' favorite summer movie -- it's The Rhythm of the Minions!
We introduce Bob and Kevin, both characters who have a special trait to them -- they're PERFECT for being made into rhythms! Kevin, a longer fellow makes a longer sound, such as a quarter note. Bob, his shorter companion minion makes a shorter and faster sound, grouped together as two eighth notes.
Kevin and Bob are shown in examples on the screen, which students are to clap back. After the students decipher the rhythms, two minions rhythms are shown on a slide and the example is played. Students must determine which rhythm is being played -- rhythm 1 or rhythm 2? The correct answer will appear by advancing the slide.
Kevin and Bob are put into several different rhythms. They start out slow with about 4 beat rhythms, but then work their way up to 7 beat rhythms by the end of the lesson.
You receive 10 sets of rhythms for your kids to discover complete with mp3 accompaniment.
Have a blast with The Rhythm of the Minions!
