This lesson is meant to be taught during a unit on the Civil War in the United States, however, it can also be used for a Government class. Students will research primary and secondary sources in order to determine if the South had the right to secede from the Union. Students will research both sides of the argument and then write a speech for the side that they believe is correct. This assignment is meant to be done online (i.e. Google Docs), but can be adapted for paper.
