No parent wants their child to be labeled “Special Ed”
no parent wants their child to struggle academically.
…BUT…when a student is so far behind…
Why doesn’t special ed get involved sooner?
Statistically, only 3-5% of students have a true educational disability.
(The state monitors how many students are placed in Special Education through a report collected in June and December through our district IEP program.)
The GOOD NEWS is that since 95% of students do not have a disability causing their difficulty learning, there is a lot YOU can do to create change and progress!
Interventions are the BEST option for struggling students.
This PowerPoint describes the laws that Special Ed has to follow before assessing students and explains to general education teachers the POWER they have in creating change in struggling students.
