In this activity students are to take what they've learned about the "Road to the American Revolution" and create two cars that represent the events leading to the war. (Stamp Act, Tea Act, etc) The assignment also requires that students write a summary of the event. It is a great way to incorporate some ELA and art in to history class!
This activity includes a rubric as well as the outline of the car that students will use to write their summary and decorate according to the act.
My middle school students enjoyed this activity and they were able to remember the events leading to the war fairly well. Even my lower level students could at least remember the two events that they used to design a the car.
After all cars were finished and cut out, I create a "Road to Revolution" in my classroom to display their work.
