The Roaring Twenties Webquest and Video Analysis with Key- this is a 14 page document that contains a webquest and a completed teacher’s key for easy marking. It contains 36 questions based on a Crash Course U.S. history video and the history.com website.
Students will begin this assignment by watching the Crash Course U.S. history video: The Roaring 20's. The video will introduce the time period and go over the key themes and events of the time. The deregulation of the economy by the government, the spread of consumerism and debt, the rise of the automobile, and the ability for Americans to have more leisure time are all discussed. The unfair distribution of this new prosperity is also reviewed as is the rise of reactionary forces- the KKK and anti-immigration movements. The video also goes over the power of U.S. business and how the stock market was worshiped by many Americans as a never ending fountain of wealth. Following the video, students will proceed to the history.com site and read an article to learn more about this time period. The new liberation women found under the 19th Amendment and the advent of the flapper girl, the rise of the Harlem Renaissance, Prohibition and the 18th Amendment, and the emergence of an automotive oriented America are a few of the subjects covered in the reading.
This webquest can be easily used as an introduction to the topic, a study guide, or a quick and easy sub plan.
