This resource was designed as a brief introduction to the rock cycle. The rock cycle is important basic information that will benefit students in studies of plate tectonics and soil formation.
The reading and accompanying Cornell notes are designed to introduce the basic types of rocks and formation processes. The reading goes through the different processes of rock formation with common examples of each type.
There are 2 versions of Cornell notes. The first set has main ideas given and another is blank, allowing students to come up with their own list of main ideas.
A quick assessment of the reading and main ideas is also included.
