Students review the Russian Revolution by completing this timeline activity and answering 4 questions. There are 27 timeline items to be organized chronologically and classified according to a system detailed in the instructions. Students then complete one task for 8 items of their choice and a different task for 4 other items. All instructions are provided in the handout. There are arrows in the first two lines of the timeline showing students the direction to fill out the pieces in. The answers are included where appropriate and this could work for a sub!
Sample timeline items and questions include:
--Petrograd strikes and demonstrations
--Lenin issues his April Theses
--Kerensky becomes Prime Minister
--White Army forms in opposition to Bolsheviks
--Czar Nicholas and family executed
--Battle of Kazan
--Create a one line slogan to sum up the Russian Revolution.
--Was the revolution good for Russia? Why or why not? How are you using the word “good?”
--What might have happened if the royal family hadn’t been executed? Explain your thinking.
