This is a twist on the ice breaker activity of a classmate scavenger hunt. There are 20 tiles each with a unique scientific description. The goal is to find a classmate who fits/ satisfies one of the scientific descriptions.
If you want to make this a challenge you can have students race to see who can find a different student to fill each of the 20 tiles first. This means that you cannot use the same person more than once on your sheet, so you must seek out and socialize with all of your classmates in order to fill your tiles!
One example of a tile: Find Someone who has the dominant gene a "Widow's peak".
This lesson was an unique way to start off the year by activating new and returning students scientific thinking. I called it socializing through science :)
I am also happy to send/ include an editable version as a couple of my tiles include questions about Florida (Identify one endangered species of Florida, Find someone who has snorkeled or dove along North America's largest living barrier coral reef).
