Blank Short Story Graphic Organizer for the short story, "The Scarlet Ibis" by James Hurst. Students label events that occur in the plot of the story: Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and the Resolution of the story.
Students also label conflicts (internal and external), the point-of-view, the theme, details about the setting of the story including the location, time period, and mood (atmosphere) of the story. Finally, students are to list and cite five examples of literary devices and various elements in the story choosing from: foreshadowing, irony, imagery, simile, metaphor, and personification.
This graphic organizer is a detailed way for students to label the events and elements of the story. It could be used as a study guide for an upcoming test, and or just as a great way for students to visually interpret the story.
