Here's a great supplement to your literature books while reading James Hurst's "The Scarlet Ibis."
You will get 10 writing prompts that require students to write a paragraph for each, covering the following literary elements:
Point of View
Students may complete all of the prompts, some in class, some for HW, maybe even in groups. It's up to you!
There are two versions of this handout: one with directions for handwritten assignments, and one for typed (depending on what you require).
As a bonus, I have included a simple worksheet with 15 vocabulary words that requires students to write the definition and a new sentence for each word.
You will also get a great set of analysis questions to go along with the story!
I teach multiple short stories in the beginning of the year, and can't spend too long on each one. This little packet gives the option of focusing on writing, or vocabulary and questions -- unless you want to spend more time on it, use them all!
