I show the students about five covers from Us Weekly, Star, etc. They laugh and pretend not to know what the stories are. Girls are usually more forthcoming. When boys say they don't pay attention to these types of things, I pull up ESPN articles about "What's going on the Cav's locker room that's got LeBron thinking about a trade?" etc.
Then, they split into small groups a design covers inspired by The Scarlet Letter
