This activity will introduce students to experimental design using a partially completed lab report template. First the students will make a hypothesis as to how temperature influences the rate of cricket chirping. Then the students will listen to four sound files of crickets chirping at different temperatures. They will collect data on the number of chirps over a time period and use this information to calculate the rate of chirps per second at each temperature. The students will then complete a chart and graph using their data and write a short conclusion about this investigation. This activity includes six files (4 wav sound files of cricket chirps at different temperatures and 2 word files with the activity and suggested answer key) in a zip file format.
