The purpose of this activity is to allow students to think critically to answer a seemingly simple question. In this case, does Gatorade successfully aid athletes in improving their performances? The students will need to use the scientific method to determine a way to answer that question. They will also need to design a test to empirically show that Gatorade helps athletes.
This would be a great way to integrate multiple subject areas including physical education, science, and math. Every time the students have tested this myth, they're always surprised by the results!
