Suzanne Buras's 5th graders love this STEM scientific method activity, A Lab on the Rate of Speed! The activity can be used to teach both content (Force and Motion) and how to follow the Scientific Method and complete a Science Fair Project.
The activity takes the students from the beginning with a problem all the way through the abstract report. The packet includes a Scientific Method Poster, the step-by-step activity, a Data Collection Chart, full directions for writing a Review of the Literature and an Abstract, a fun extension, and a Scoring Rubric for the final product. Covers a large portion of science grade level expectations. Have fun!
