Project packet includes student handout, rubric with points, rubric without points, and student-generated samples of the assignment.
This is so much more than the typical book report project, and it's difficult for me to choose just one aspect of it that is my favorite.
It's a project that all of my students through the years have enjoyed completing and one which I have always enjoyed grading. It allows students to demonstrate their creativity in their own personal way, and they really have fun doing it. The finished product is one students are truly proud of.
Unlike with other book projects, it is almost impossible for students to fake their way through this one. They can not complete it unless they have truly taken the time to read, understand, and analyze their assigned novel. The project requires students to do much more than just summarize. Instead, they must demonstrate a much deeper understanding of the novel and its elements.
This assignment can be used in conjunction with novels, biographies, and autobiographies. It's individual elements can also be used separately with whole class novels and short stories.
