This game makes
practicing shapes FUN!! This is a great board game to play with
your students. It addresses shape recognition (regardless of orientation), shape position in space, comparison, and movement. It will require a reader for the Fun Facts! and Shape UP! cards. Attribute and 3D blocks can be used to demonstrate what shapes roll, stack, or slide..
1 spinner, 15 card sheets, 4 game boards
1 paperclip, 1 pencil, a game piece per player
(I’ve used math manipulatives).
Print onto cardstock and/or laminate/put into page protectors. Cut out Fun Fact and Shape UP cards and sort by shape character. Match the cards with their game board and stack upside down.
Spin the spinner. Move that many places on the board. Students name and describe the shape they land on. Land on Shape Up!-pick a Shape Up! card and follow the directions. Land on Fun Fact!-pick a Fun Fact! card and learn something new about shapes! The fourth game board also has special Roll, Stack or Slide? cards. Students tell what the shape can do. The first player to the end wins!
