In Fahrenheit 451, the titles of the three sections of the novel all have a symbolic representation and significance. This product allows your students to analyze the significance of the title of Part 1 of Fahrenheit 451, "The Hearth & the Salamander."
Included in this product is a link to a nonfiction article, which explains and details the mythical history of the salamander in our culture. It then asks a series of questions which require students to apply the information they learned from the nonfiction text to the symbolic use of the salamander in Bradbury's novel.
