The short story "The Skylight Room" by American Author William Sydney Porter (better know as O. Henry) is sure to intrigue even your most reluctant readers.
The story, set in New York in the early 1900s and written in the rare second-person, introduces you to an array of colorful characters living at a boarding house. One particular character, a Miss Leeson, is at the center of it all; she rents the skylight room.
