This fun activity is designed to provide students with practice on how to discover points on a line using the slope definition of rise over run.
Students work in pairs to race across a coordinate plane only using moves that support the directions for slope.
Through this activity, students learn how a linear equation is formed on a graph and they receive practice with slope that will help them graph lines in slope intercept form.
While racing with each other, students will be able to compare the affects of a steeper slope verses a shallow slope and a negative slope verses a positive slope.
This activity is best used after a lesson on slope and before a lesson on graphing in slope intercept form.
Specific directions for the race are included in the packet.
