Review the different types of Figurative Language as you read Liam O'Flaherty's short story, The Sniper. This activity starts with a matching exercise. Together, in pairs or independently, students will match the figurative language types to their definitions. This sheet includes 11 types of figurative language. Then, it has 19 examples taken from the text for students to identify. Lastly, students are given the definition of Dramatic Irony and must locate the example of Dramatic Irony in the story. This is a great way to review figurative language and the story at the same time.
