PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson was designed for my AP Literature students, but I have used it with all grade levels and have found success. Students often make great claims about literature but fail to elaborate further, leaving out the pivotal pieces necessary for analysis. By teaching the 'So What?" factor and then providing this two page handout to students while they write analytical essays, it encourages students to delve deeper and really ANALYZE, not just point and name ("Oooh look, that is anaphora!"...to which I respond, "Great, now "So What?" Explain WHY the author chose to place it there. What is the PURPOSE?")
