This activity was designed for students who struggle with social pragmatic skills, but are higher functioning. This activity is designed to be completed in a small social skills group, but can be completed individually. Activities involve thinking deeply about the meaning of the word "social" and debating and discussing the importance of social skills in society. Students are given suggested questions to debate and discuss with classmates and then complete research and interview others in order to write and publish an editorial article on the topic. An outline is provided that gives the student guidance for what should be included in each paragraph. The articles can then be posted to a class blog, published in a school newspaper, or filmed in a student news broadcast. The teacher can then compile all articles and create a Social Reporter Investigative Book.
