This is an awesome lesson to use when teaching students about the solar system!
Aligns with the 5th grade Science standards:
Recognize that a galaxy consists of gas, dust, and many stars, including any objects orbiting the stars. Identify our home galaxy as the Milky Way. (students will also be asked to explain how stars can be different, identify the sun as a star that emits energy as visible light, and identify the Sun’s appearance is due to its proximity to Earth)
Distinguish among the following objects of the Solar System:
Sun, planets, moons, asteroids, comets -- and
identify Earth's position in it.
This PowerPoint gives your students all the facts they need to know to meet these standards, key vocabulary words, awesome visuals to help them visualize the information, and review questions for each section that can be used as a quick assessment tool for you!
This can be broken down into several smaller lessons.
