The "Solar System" language pack is designed to help support students in developing skills outlined in the Common Core State Standards. This packet is designed for use in Speech Therapy but may also be used in Resource rooms or for in class small group / centers based activities. It is curriculum based, and intended for use with 3rd-5th grade students. The packet is aligned to both the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the North Carolina Essential Standards for Science (NCES).

*11 solar-system cards with realistic pictures and non-fiction descriptions for: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto (now considered a “Dwarf Planet”), the sun, and the moon. Also includes an astronaut compare/contrast visual strategy guide
*12 Tier II and Tier III academic curriculum based vocabulary words with matching definitions (24 cards total), introduction to the LINCS (research based) vocabulary strategy, and a LINCS graphic organizer / strategy guide
*Figurative language cards containing similes, metaphors, and suggested interpretations. Includes 16 cards and 3 sorting mats.
*"Space Mission" game board in full color (outer space background) and plain / white background for easy printing.
** The North Carolina Science Curriculum includes a major unit of study on space / the solar system in 3rd Grade (Quarter 3) in the "Objects in the Sky" unit.
