This handbook has been developed to act as a guideline for staff in the Autism Transitional Classroom in their daily work. I am posting it on TPT as it may be helpful to other teachers in setting some classroom guidelines for the paraprofessionals they work with.
I use it in my classroom to establish policies and procedures with my educational assistants, we well as any students we may have on placement, or other EAs that come into my room for training.
The handbook contains guidelines for:
Emergency Intrusive Procedures
The Use of Physical Guidance
Health and Sanitary Protocols
Maintaining Professional Boundaries
Reporting Child Abuse
It also includes a staff training guide that I use for new EAs, students on placement and other EAs who come for training as part of student transitions.
The files in this handbook are written specifically for use in my classroom, however, they are completely editable so you can change and add your own information.
The binder should be stored in a central location so that all staff may access it at any time. This handbook should be reviewed by new staff coming into the program and by continuing staff on an annual basis.
