The Star Spangled Banner
: How about discussing the The Star Spangled Banner with your students. Students may sing the national anthem for the United States or hear it sung at important events, but do they really know what the words mean? This is a great way to get them talking. Your students will enjoy this fun "The Star Spangled Banner" word search!! If your students are like mine, they love these.
In this The Star Spangled Banner themed puzzle, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonal. I would consider it on the challenging side since students are looking for words in all directions, and the content may be more suitable for upper elementary.
I use word searches to introduce vocabulary, or even just give it as morning work. They are also great to glue in writing notebooks for future writing topics. Perfect for a sub, too. Have your students write about the meaning of The Star Spangled Banner. Have them define certain words. Maybe they could illustrate their thinking. Use The Star Spangled Banner word search however you would like in your classroom.
