This is a fun new kind of Scavenger Hunt (Adventure Quests) they take place in the mind, the memory and the imagination, not scattered all over the city or countryside. They are packaged with two editions; the Teacher's Edition, which has all of the answers to this hunt and the Student Edition, which has all of the blanks that need to be answered.
There is also the flexibility of three levels of questions. Level A involves Finding Detail and Skimming and Scanning. Quickest to do so accurately wins! Level B adds the knowledge of Word Structure and Word Construction, organizing the letters to make the words along with Finding Detail and Skimming and Scanning. Level C also involves counting, Math and some Critical Thinking.
These levels allow the Quests to be used with Grades 4 thru 9 or higher or within one grade if the Reading Levels are widely diverse. The fact that they are a competition with a prize loses all the Educational goals and skills in the dust of the desire to win! At my desk I would ring the bell like in a prize fight, raise their hands and loudly proclaim; “Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! WE HAVE A WINNER! WE HAVE A WINNER! I also had them put their names on a brick and add it to this week's/month's WALL OF FAME. I did many things which created many bricks but it could be a longer period if needed. Then they got their prize and permission to eat that piece of candy in front of the room and reveal how good that WINNER'S CANDY tasted.
We also provide you with a number of “Three Level Questions” to check comprehension and polish thinking skills.Right there, here and there, and author and you teaches students to interact with text and to go beyond what is on the page. Finally you are given three Enrichment Activities which are fun and fulfilling and educational for use with the story
