Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students Choose and write eight word card words with the suffixes –y, -ish, -hood, and –ment. Write sentences using the words.
Pages 14-16: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students write and say ten word card words. Circle the suffixes.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the letter to the editor poster to help students remember what a letter to the editor is). Students write a book review that states your opinion and includes details. Tell the author and underline the title.
Pages 19-22: Words To Know: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose and write fives pairs of homonyms, then write a sentence for each pair to show the different meanings.
Page 23: Read For Meaning: Students read a Leveled Reader and write one sentence that tells the author’s purpose and two sentences about details from the book that support your reasoning.
Page 24: I included a portion of The Story of the Statue of Liberty for students to read for fluency.
