Board of Education of Topeka, Emmett Till, the Little Rock Nine, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr. and non-violence, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Sit-In Movement, Freedom Riders, Kennedy's address to the nation, James Meredith, the March on Washington, the Twenty-fourth Amendment, Freedom Summer, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Long Hot Summers, Malcolm X and Stokely Carmichael, SNCC and Black Power, the Black Panthers, Newark and Detroit Riots, and MLK Jr.'s assassination. This AP US history presentation includes a look at segregated communities today and can easily be modified for any secondary U.S. history course.
