Included in this set are five labs designed to meet the NGSS kindergarten standards about the sun:
-Make observations to determine the effect of sunlight on Earth’s surface.
-Use tools and materials to design and build a structure that will reduce the warming effect of sunlight on an area.
The labs included are as follows:
-Why do we need to protect our skin from the sun?
-How can we keep cool in the summer? (STEM)
All of the labs are hands-on and kindergarten friendly. The labs require some materials, but most of them are common classroom objects such as arts and craft supplies and thermometers. Others are grocery store items like sunscreen and grapes. The labs can be completed in groups, individually, in pairs, or as a whole group depending on your specific classroom needs. Each lab includes the materials needed, directions, and reflection questions. In addition, lab sheets are included where necessary.
