This lapbook has universal components that can be utilized as a final project for your Tale of Despereaux unit.
*The use of light and dark was prevalent in this book. Students write about the light in their world ~ what is cherished for them.
*The book is divided into four parts. There are four flaps where students write how Despereaux, the princess, the soup and a spool of thread are connected throughout the story.
*Characterization is a large component of this story. Each of the five main characters is elaborated on through their thoughts, words, actions, emotions & feelings and traits in simple flower foldables. Students write one or two key ideas on each petal. A picture of the character is drawn in the middle. Key characters included are Despereaux, Pea, Miggery, Roscuro & Gregory.
*The inside flap is a choice of writing projects. My main Despereaux unit focuses on characterization and elaborating sentences using conjunctions. Students are directed to write three sentences about their favorite characters. ONE of the sentences must contain a conjunction.
*If you have purchased this unit as a generic lapbook, I have also included general writing papers that you can use in conjunction with your specific writing assignment.
