This FREEBIE provides eight guidelines to consider before coming to a teacher with a problem.
1. Ask politely for help.
2. Are you hurt?
3. Is somebody else hurt?
4. Did an adult ask you for information?
5. Did you already tell an adult?
6. Did you see or hear a problem yourself?
7. Be honest - are you trying to get someone in trouble?
8. Is this problem about you or someone else?
Guidelines are explained in detail on attractive posters, meant for use during discussions or lessons about tattling. After discussing them, these posters can easily be displayed in any classroom, though the language used is better suited for upper elementary.
Before taking time away from instruction in order to listen to recess problems, remind students of these eight rules... you will see a decrease in tattling in no time!
