This is a two day lesson on Edgar Allen Poe's The "Tell-Tale Heart." Students will spend two days reading the story and analyzing the elements involved in a mystery or horror story. As an activity leading up to this, you can focus on some of the more difficult vocabulary students will encounter as they read the story. Students will spend the second day listening to an audio version or the story and then completing a compare and contrast of the two versions.
This two day lesson will have your students questioning, visualizing, using their schema, inferring, etc. Group work will be on task and students will be heavily involved in this activity. My students couldn't wait to hear the audio version on d
