The lesson focuses on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and includes a PPT that goes along with the lesson. It includes definitions, examples from literature, and real world examples. The lesson also includes 2 video clips that can be accessed either through the slide or you can use the clip that was included in the zip file for visual assistance. The lesson ends with a court case with a police report and witness report for the assigned students to fill out. Each student will have a role (judge, jury, detectives, witnesses, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and the defendant). Students will determine if the murder was pre-meditated or if the narrator was insane. This also goes with the question: Was the narrator intrinsically motivated or extrinsically motivated? Each student will also complete the Character Motivation worksheet which will help them plan their trial. Finally, there is an assessment with an answer key to check for comprehension and understanding of character motivations.
