This is a great Bell Ringer activity that students can quickly do at the start of class as students arrive and attendance is taken. It is also terrific for poetry units.
Included is a short reading about Wilfred Funk's 1932 list of the most beautiful words in English. It is followed by a vocabulary activity that allows students to match the ten most beautiful words to their definitions. Students are then invited to create their own list of ten words. The sheet can easily be unpacked for a full class as students share their own lists of most beautiful words and explain their reasons for including them.
It's a great activity to leave in a sub folder or to simply increase student vocabulary!
