Open-ended Maths projects challenge students to problem solve using real life situations. They are great exercises to foster creative and critical thinking, cooperative group work and an understanding that sometimes there is no one right answer to a problem.
My class loves this type of Math and are always asking for more. I hope you enjoy this resource.
Concepts covered include: finding area, addition, multiplication and money.
Using a budgeted amount of money students must design a habitat for a pet class tortoise, deciding on the square footage of wood that must be purchased plus all supplies needed for the care of the tortoise.
