Students review 21 battles and events from the formation of Coahuila y Tejas to the Treaty of Velasco by completing a timeline of the Texas Revolution (most events are from 1835-1836). Students also classify each item according to a system detailed in the instructions, complete 2 tasks for 12 items of their choice, and answer 4 questions. There are arrows in the first two lines of the timeline showing students the direction to fill out the pieces in and extra pieces for students to add additional events. This could work for a sub! The answers are provided where appropriate.
Sample timeline items and questions include:
--Santa Anna becomes Mexico's president
--Correo-San Felipe Affair
--Battle of Goliad
--Battle of Refugio
--Treaty of Velasco signed
--Discuss the content and significance of the April 6, 1830 law. Had it not been passed, would the Texas Revolution have still happened? If Texans had been able to vote on it, would the law have passed? Explain your answers fully.
--Which battle do you think most and least affected the outcome of the revolution and why?
***a teacher's note is included in the file describing an alternate way students can complete this activity***
