This 31 question test was created to assess the standard:
SS3CG1 The student will explain the importance of the basic principles that provide
the foundation of a republican form of government.
a. Explain why in the United States there is a separation of power between branches
of government and levels of government.
b. Name the three levels of government (national, state, local) and the three branches
in each (executive, legislative, judicial), including the names of the legislative
branch (Congress, General Assembly, county commission or city council).
c. State an example of the responsibilities of each level and branch of government.
All of the topics mentioned in the standard are on the test. The test includes multiple choice items, fill in the blank items, (word banks are included), and a branches/levels of government graphic organizer. The graphic organizer is color coded to help students keep up with which branch and level they are working on.
The product also contains a study guide! The study guide is comprised of bulleted facts about the branches and levels of government. (This is very helpful for parents that are not from the U.S. when they study with their child!) The test also includes a list of free YouTube videos and Brainpop videos that review information found on the test.
