Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, The Three Kings, is a traditional retelling of the arrival of the three wise men, their arrival in Bethlehem and their encounter with Herod the Great and with the Christ child. It follows the biblical story closely. The poem is recited here in a PowerPoint presentation that contains simple graphics. Students can follow the reading as it scrolls on the screen. Worksheets accompany the presentation which challenge students to look at some of the vocabulary and apply their understanding of their reading to comprehension tasks which require them to declare their understanding through, firstly, illustrations and then words. It is an informative, entertaining and academic means of addressing the Christmas story.
