Read below for more information about this unit.
Let’s Build Activity
The Three Little Pigs emergent reader included in this unit is a 10 page mini book. Duplicate book pages on each sheet makes it easy to assemble! Print, staple, and slice in half. The emergent reader uses characters and story elements from The Three Little Pigs, it also uses repetitive text in order to build confidence in beginning readers.
(i.e. I see a Pig. I see a wolf.)
Vocabulary cards can be used to reiterate important terms throughout the text and build vocabulary.
LET’S BUILD ACTIVITY
[Suggested Craft Instructions: The teacher will cut up construction paper in little pieces that look like hay, sticks, and bricks. Then the students will "build" 3 different houses of their own using the construction paper and glue!]
The teacher will cut up the sequencing cards into separate pieces. Then the students will sequence the order of events.
Students will draw a line to the correct scene.
Students can practice fine motor skills and matching by putting together the easy 2 piece mini puzzles.
Some of the questions in the activity are listed below. You can have students answer while you write for them or they can write their own answer depending on their level of independence/reading and writing skills. Or see the directions for the response sheets below, those can also be used for early learners that need extra help with writing. Below are some examples of the questions for the Making Connections activity.
1. The three little pigs built their own houses.
What would you use to build a house?
2. The three little pigs are siblings.
Do you have any siblings?
These answer sheets are to be used with the Making Connections activity sheet. Students (or the teacher) can cut out the appropriate response for their answer to each question in the Making Connections activity sheet.
Students can use these sheets to practice their writing skills while responding to what they just read, great for comprehenion.
