This free booklet is designed to supplement the YA novel The Time Traveler’s Apprentice Book Two. The novel is a work of historical fiction written to support a unit on Ancient Rome in an engaging and entertaining way. This booklet contains an activity for every chapter in the book. Some of the activities are ELA themed, and some are tied to social studies content.
For best results, color print the booklet. If color copying or printing is not available or economically feasible, the booklet can be printed in black and white. Classrooms with projection capabilities would benefit from supplementing the students’ workbooks with projected images from the digital file when color or detailed pictures are part of the activity.
This booklet works well as a guide for independent student reading of the novel in either a Language Arts or Social Studies classroom. It could also be used for whole class or smaller group readings as a cooperative and collaborative exercise.
Alternatively, in classrooms with 1:1 devices, or access to devices for stations etc., digital copies of the booklet could be accessed by students instead of paper copies. Students would have to record their answers in journals or on separate pieces of paper, or print selected pages that require direct interaction with the image in the booklet.
