This is an Argumentative / Argument Essay Prompt

“Literature Based Writing Prompt – The Treasure of Lemon Brown - In the short story, "The Treasure of Lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myers, Lemon Brown fiercely protects his treasure. Although the hoodlums in the neighborhood believe Lemon is hiding money or something else of monetary value, Greg finds that this is not the case. At first, even Greg does not see the value of Lemon Brown’s treasure, but after hearing Lemon’s story, Greg learns to appreciate that treasures do not have to have monetary value to be important. Think about the quote, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” What treasure do you own that someone else may consider “trash”? Write to present your belief that your item is, in fact, a treasure.
