Pg. 3-5 Vocabulary in Context – copy pages A and B back to back, fold on solid lines, cut on dotted lines, illustrate and write a sentence for each word
Pg. 6 Roll and Spell – roll the dice to see how many times to write each spelling word
Pg. 7-8 Color Your Vowels – color your vowels with different colors as you practice writing your words
Pg. 9 Use It! - use your vocabulary words in a paragraph/story to show their meaning
Pg. 10-12 My Comprehension Flip It! – fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines – answer the questions and illustrate to show your understanding of the story
Pg. 13-14 Conclusion Pie Mobile – fill out the details and conclusion from the story, color, cut, add yarn, and hang – instead of tying the yarn you could put the yarn through the holes and tape the yarn in place
Pg. 15-18 Have a Slice of Sentence Pie – copy onto white (or tan for crust) construction paper, cut on the dotted lines, glue together by just putting glue around the outer crust, lift the crust to write an example of each sentence, glue to a large paper plate – can hang in the hall – use the small poster to help display the student’s work
Pg. 19-22 What Kind of Sentence Could it Be? – copy page A and B back to back, fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines – read the sentences on page C, cut them out, glue them under the correct flaps
Pg. 23-26 Guilty – Not Guilty Judge Mallet Book – copy the front and back of the mallet onto brown construction paper, copy the middle page onto white copy paper and fill out what the characters are feeling and thinking during the trial and what we can learn about it – could hang up in the hall
Pg. 27-31 Friendly Letters! – pick a name and write a friendly letter to someone in your class or in a neighboring class – write a friendly letter to Cardigan, pretend you were in the courtroom and apologize for accusing him – a blank letter to be used anyway you would like to
Pg. 32-33 Bake a Compound Word Pie! – cut out the pie halves, glue them together in the boxes and use them in a sentence
Pg. 34-35 Compound Accordion Book – enough for three students per page, cut out, fold accordion style, think of as many compound words for the one word provided – could write more compound words on the back side of the book
