Happy Thanksgiving from Bloom!
We hope you’ll include this song in your morning circle routine leading up to Thanksgiving. It addresses some numbers (one, two), colors (red, yellow) and problem-solving objects based on their shape. Please note this song does NOT include music but serves as a visual support (Interactive Whiteboard) for singing the song to the tune of Wheels on the Bus. It includes simple animations and sound effects.
Across several verses, The Turkey on the Farm sequentially ‘builds’ a turkey (a body and head … two bright eyes … one yellow beak … one red waddle … two small wings … one feather tail … a green bow tie … and finally and most importantly, two fast feet that allow the turkey to run away.
Each page/verse opens with a flashing shape, followed by the addition of slot-filler text, highlighted in blue. These visual clues invite the students to guess the focus of the verse before it is actually sung. After the class has made their ‘educated guess’ using the shape & print clues, they can proceed to sing that verse to the tune of Wheels on the Bus. Classroom staff are encouraged to point out the words in the verse as they are being sung. One cautionary note: when pointing out the words it is important to NOT touch the Interactive Whiteboard. Doing so, will trigger animations.
This file was created using PowerPoint 14.3.5 but appears to function fine on earlier versions of PowerPoint. Please note the downloaded file is a read only PowerPoint Show file (97-2004). It should be compatible with PowerPoint versions 97 to current.
