Product Description

Our students can spend hours playing video games or on their favorite apps, but ask them to do their math homework and it becomes a mission! So this Ultimate Algebra Challenge is meant to be a fun way to review many concepts that students will see on their end of course exam, final exam, or unit test. Students will work in small groups to complete three levels of problems, and must correctly answer all questions on one level before proceeding to the next. The first team to complete all three levels wins.

Level 1 Objectives/Standards:

Students will be able to:

• Find the domain of a list of ordered pairs

• Use the rules of exponents to multiply monomials

• Solve two-step equations

• Write the equation of a line given slope and the y-intercept

• Solve inequalities

• Use the distributive property

• Combine like terms

• Determine whether two lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither given their equations

• Use the slope formula to find the slope between two points

• Find the common difference of an arithmetic sequence

• Create a proportion and solve it

• Use FOIL/distributive property to multiply two binomials

• Factor the difference of two squares

• Evaluate expressions using substitution

Level 2 Objectives/Standards:

Students will be able to:

• Simplify algebra expressions by using the order of operations

• Find the midpoint of two points

• Rewrite equations of lines from slope-intercept form to standard form

• Factor trinomials

• Find the degree of polynomials

• Find the greatest common factor (GCF) of monomials

• Express numbers in scientific notation

• Use rules of exponents to simplify

• Add polynomials by combining like terms

• Solve inequalities

Level 3 Objectives/Standards:

Students will be able to:

• Read word problems, create equations based on information provided, solve, and check for accuracy

• Rewrite an equation of a line in slope-intercept form to determine its y-intercept

• Use substitution to evaluate expressions

• Find the final price after a percent discount

• Find the equation of line perpendicular to a given line passing through a certain point
