The United Nations' Millennium Development Goals - PowerPoint Presentation
“In September 2000, building upon a decade of major United Nations conferences and summits, world leaders from 189 nations came together at United Nations Headquarters in New York to adopt the United Nations Millennium Declaration, committing their nations to a new global partnership to reduce extreme poverty and setting out a series of time-bound targets - with a deadline of 2015 - that have become known as the Millennium Development Goals.”
With April 5th, 2013, marking the 1,000-day milestone until the 2015 target date to achieve the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), this is a great opportunity to introduce your students to the global achievements that have been made in reducing poverty and improving the lives of millions around the world.
This comprehensive 80-slide PowerPoint presentation leads students through the development of the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals, but importantly also follows up with an up-to-date assessment of the global progress within each of the eight goals. Students will discover areas in which great achievements have been made, but also where development has fallen short. This presentation also includes a range of engaging videos, images, graphs, and tables.
