"The Veldt" is one of Bradbury's most compelling and interesting stories. Bradbury expertly develops mood and foreshadowing in this eerie, futuristic tale, which is why this lesson is focused on those two concepts.
This lesson covers the basic concepts of mood and foreshadowing through relatable examples and quick practice exercises to solidify students' understanding of the concepts, followed by identification of the same strategies used in Bradbury's story. Students are also asked to identify themes and examine the names of "Wendy and Peter" in the story.
Included are a powerpoint presentation containing all activities and a discussion question intended for use in Google Classroom immediately after students read the story (though it can be used in class discussion or as a reflection question).
All materials are editable. Enjoy!
