Just color, cut, punch, and enjoy!
I recommend printing on card stock, and laminating for longevity!
These hand-drawn Very Hungry Caterpillar black line story pieces were originally created for use as a story telling aid in the classroom. Magnets, Velcro, felt, tape, etc. can be attached to the back of each piece in order to tack the story sequence up on a board. They have a lot of potential to be used in various ways! Students could use them to count, identify, sequence, create a mini book (perhaps attach with a brad so the pieces swivel out), and more!
Additional larger drawings are also included. Paired with the round food pieces, the larger drawings of the leaves, caterpillars, and butterfly are a fun way to bring the story to life in your classroom! Students enjoy receiving one piece of the story and coming up to add it to the board as their ‘part’ is incorporated into the story.
I watercolored and laminated a set for my own personal resource file, however, allowing students to help in the coloring/painting process is something I recommend and will definitely do in the future!
If you had a lot of time available (a long span of segments of time), students could color or paint their own entire set and create a personal mini book! There are 34 pieces that would make up the individual pages.
