A fun and engaging way to incorporate books into your music classroom!
The Very Quiet Cricket can't make any sound, very much like the "rest" in music. This lesson allows students to incorporate their knowledge of "rest' into the book they are reading. Students read and perform rhythms associated with the different characters of the book. These rhythms can be performed with body percussion or on instruments.
This lesson is great in the classroom and then can be transitioned into a concert piece.
This file includes PDF documents of the different rhythm pages, Powerpoint version of the pages, and lesson plan ideas for use in your classroom.
